The rectangular wall cups are usually about 2" x 6" and put slightly more pressure on your walls than the large circular protectors, but they fit into places the circular ones won't. I suggest using these in a horizontal orientation for all lower gate supports, except in places where your horizontal wall space is only a few inches (such as the bottom of a narrow door frame), to allow you to position the gate as close to the floor as possible. For upper gate supports in a narrow door frame, use them in a vertical orientation.
